Boral Stone Products expanding existing operations in Chester County

Company to add new equipment with $6 million investment

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Boral Stone Products today announced plans to expand operations at its facility in Chester County. The $6 million investment is expected to generate three new jobs.

“Boral Stone Products has enjoyed a close, long-term relationship with the economic leaders of South Carolina and Chester County since opening our eastern manufacturing facility in 2001. We are committed to the region and are excited to implement improvements to the facility with this new investment. Boral has a companywide focus on innovation and safety and this investment provides us the opportunity to put in place both new safety and efficiency measures at the Chester plant,” said David Mariner, president of Boral Stone Products LLC.

Boral Stone Products makes its Cultured Stone® manufactured stone veneer products for interior and exterior residential and commercial applications at its Chester County facility. The company is adding equipment to expand the product line at its plant, located at 590 Ecology Lane. All work on the expansion is expected to be completed by June 2013.

“Boral’s decision to expand its presence in Chester County and commit to growing in South Carolina is another sign that our state’s business-friendly climate is helping existing companies prosper. Today’s announcement is also another win for one of our state’s rural areas,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $6.8 billion in capital investment and more than 16,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.

“South Carolina manufacturers continue to make investments in their plants, and that’s another sign that our manufacturing renaissance is gathering steam. These investments, like Boral’s today, help create wealth and new jobs that have impact,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“The expansion at Boral gives us confidence that Chester County remains a ripe environment for existing businesses to expand and flourish. Chester County’s leadership continues to do what it takes to create a pro-business atmosphere that is proving to be attractive to our existing industrial partners. Congratulations Boral,” said Chester County Supervisor R. Carlisle Roddey.

“The expansion of the Boral Stone facility is evidence of a company that is an industry leader with a solid reputation choosing Chester County for this investment. Thank you, Boral Stone and congratulations to Chester County,” said Chester Development Association Chairman Mike Enoch.
