Medac Inc. to establish headquarters in Aiken County

$12 million investment to bring 615 jobs to the area

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Medac Inc., a provider of revenue cycle and practice management services and information products to anesthesia-related healthcare providers, plans to establish the company's headquarters in Aiken County. The $12 million investment will bring 615 jobs to the area.

The company intends to streamline operations of three facilities into a single, consolidated facility in North Augusta, S.C. Medac will be moving to a two-story, 60,000-square-foot building in the North Augusta riverfront development area, located near the North Augusta Municipal Center.

Medac Inc. began as Medical Bureau Inc., a multi-specialty billing company providing services to an array of medical fields, in 1986 by Kam Memar. He was joined by his brother Bijon in 1989. In 1992 the brothers realized the need for specialization in the anesthesiology sector, and Medac Inc. was born in Augusta with only eight employees. Today, Medac has more than 550 employees nationwide. It is a testament to Kam Memar's legacy that the company is considered the second-largest privately held anesthesia billing company in the country, with a presence in 37 states.
