E&I Engineering, Ltd. to locate U.S. operations in Anderson County, create 250 jobs

Ireland-based manufacturer to invest $17 million

COLUMBIA, S.C. - E&I Engineering, Ltd., a provider of switchgear and power distribution solutions throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, plans to invest $17 million to establish its first U.S. operations in Anderson County. The investment is expected to create 250 jobs over the next five years. 

E&I will acquire the vacant 50,000-square-foot Supreme facility on Harris Bridge Road with plans to expand the complex to 150,000 square feet to accommodate manufacturing of switchgear and busducts. 

Headquartered in Donegal, Ireland, E&I has more than 650 employees across its European headquarters and its plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company posts annual sales in excess of $150 million with an extensive list of blue chip company clients across all sectors. 

E&I's switchgear is custom-built, assembled from type-tested building blocks, manufactured and assembled in-house. The switchgear division produces a complete range of equipment for large-scale industrial and commercial projects in multiple sectors including financial services, data centers, hospitals, commercial offices, petro-chemical, marine, utilities and manufacturing. 

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for the project.
