American author H. Jackson Brown Jr., once said, "Opportunity dances with those already on the dance floor." In other words, you must put yourself in position to take advantage of opportunities that may arise. For Team South Carolina, that notion certainly rings true; and, it's exactly what we're aiming to do.
With more than 70 percent of the world's purchasing power located outside of the United States, we recognize that tremendous opportunities exist for South Carolina beyond the borders of our state. So, our team is constantly traveling the world to build relationships with potential partners and prospective companies.
This week, we were well-represented with large delegations at two important events for international business. In National Harbor, Maryland, a group of economic development allies from across South Carolina attended the 2017 SelectUSA Investment Summit. And, nearly 4,000 miles to the east in Le Bourget, France, a group of aerospace industry leaders and business representatives joined S.C. Commerce for the 2017 Paris Air Show. By participating in these two crucial events, our delegations were able to advance the state's international trade and foreign direct investment efforts.
Moving forward, as we continue to engage in these annual events, South Carolina will remain in the middle of the metaphorical dance floor that Brown was referring to; and, when opportunities arise, we'll be able to take advantage of them, ensuring prosperity across South Carolina for years to come.
