Agency taps Vanessa Goeschl to lead S.C. industry recruitment in Europe
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Department of Commerce today announced that Vanessa Goeschl will lead the agency’s office in Munich, Germany. Currently in its 43rd year of operation, the office spearheads the state’s international business recruitment efforts across Europe.
“In recent years, South Carolina has developed a reputation as a global industry powerhouse, and the Europe Office has played an indispensable role in making that happen,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “I’m excited to congratulate Vanessa Goeschl and know she’s prepared to take South Carolina’s European presence to the next level.”
Prior to accepting this position, Goeschl served as the senior vice president of Economic Development at the Charlotte Regional Partnership, where she directed all business development recruitment and marketing efforts for the 16-county, two-state region. She holds a master’s degree in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Boston University.
The state of South Carolina Europe Office is the European arm of the S.C. Department of Commerce. First established in Brussels in 1975, the office has assisted European companies establish, relocate and expand business operations in the Palmetto State for more than four decades.
