Dayco Products LLC expanding operations in Barnwell County

Williston plant to become company’s aftermarket and OEM belt center

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Dayco Products LLC, a maker of automotive components, will expand its current operations in Barnwell County. The nearly $2 million investment is expected to generate at least 15 new jobs.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to grow our business in North America. Demand for our products is increasing and this addition will help our company better serve our customers. South Carolina has consistently provided us with a great place to do business with a skilled workforce. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Tom Green, director of North American Operations for Dayco Products.

Dayco Products will expand its operations by bringing a new line for timing belt production online at the company’s Williston plant this summer. Dayco will add new equipment to the facility, making it the aftermarket and OEM belt center for the company in North America.

“We celebrate Dayco Products’ decision to expand in Williston with the investment of nearly $2 million and the creation of 15 new jobs. Today’s announcement also shows that our state’s rural areas continue to provide a great environment for business,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $5 billion in capital investment and more than 8,000 jobs in the automotive-related sector. Additionally, more than $1.2 billion in capital investment and more than 8,700 jobs have been recruited to the state’s rural areas during that time.

“South Carolina’s automotive sector continues to grow and create good jobs. Not only do announcements like this one add to our reputation in the automotive club, but they also build on the Palmetto State’s manufacturing renaissance,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“Dayco is recognized internationally for its automotive belts and we’re proud to call them one of our own. This expansion shows their continued confidence in Barnwell County’s ability to provide a quality workforce,” said Barnwell County Council Chairman Freddie Houston.

“Dayco has been a member of Barnwell County’s corporate community for over three decades and still remains one the county’s largest employers. Their additional capital investment and creation of new job opportunities shows confidence in their current employees and in our available workforce,” said Pete Grady, chairman of the Barnwell County EDC.

The company will begin hiring for the new positions August 1, through the Barnwell SC Works Center.
