$24.1 million investment expected to create 364 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Physicians Choice Laboratory Services, a provider of testing services to clinicians, today announced plans to establish its new facility in York County. The $24.1 million investment is expected to generate 364 new jobs.
“We are excited to move forward with our plans to locate operations in York County. Our company is seeing increasing demand for our services, so this expansion will allow us to better serve our customers. South Carolina offers us an excellent business environment and a skilled workforce. We appreciate the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Joe Wiegel, president of operations for Physicians Choice Laboratory Services.
Physicians Choice Laboratory Services will consolidate and expand its current operations in a new facility located at Riverwalk Business Park, near U.S. Hwy 21 and I-77 in Rock Hill. The new facility is expected to be in operation by July 2013.

We celebrate the company’s decision to put roots down in the Palmetto State, investing $24.1 million and creating 364 well-paying jobs in York County. Since January 2010, Commerce has recruited more than $340 million in capital investment and more than 1,300 new jobs in the life sciences sector.
“We are building on our reputation in the life sciences club, and the announcement by Physicians Choice Laboratory Services is an important part of that. By offering companies the right business climate and workforce talent, we can continue to attract job-creating investments like this one to South Carolina,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
York County Council Chairman Dr. Britt Blackwell said, “PCLS provides crucial services to the medical profession and has recognized that York County is able to offer an excellent, available labor force, strategic market location and outstanding access to the Charlotte regional healthcare community. The more than 360 new jobs and over $24 million in new capital investment will jumpstart business development in Riverwalk resulting in even more new companies calling Rock Hill and York County home.”
“The City of Rock Hill is very excited to welcome PCLS to Rock Hill and to Riverwalk Business Park,” said Mayor Doug Echols. “The project is the first industrial client for Riverwalk and will bring much needed jobs and investment in our community.”
