For many, the number 13 is seen as an unlucky symbol or even a bad omen. But, for Team South Carolina, that's not the case. Tomorrow, as we turn the calendar page to Friday, October 13, we celebrate a great milestone for the state's economic development community -- 13,000 new jobs announced since January 1.
A job recruitment total of that magnitude can only be achieved with a remarkable amount of collaboration and teamwork. And, that is certainly what we've experienced here in South Carolina. From the various selling agencies of the state to our local governments, from our regional economic alliances and utilities to our education partners and private sector allies, it takes all of us working together to ensure that South Carolina remains an ideal location to do business.
Despite the success we've had, we're not done. There are nearly 80 days left in 2017; that's 80 opportunities to move our state and its economy forward. We must keep working together to strengthen our infrastructure network, train our workforce and develop a robust inventory of buildings and sites. By doing these things, we'll be able to set the table for continued economic success across South Carolina.
So, as we conclude the 41st week of the year and celebrate our lucky number 13, we keep our focus on the future. By working together and positioning our state and its communities for continued economic growth, we'll be able to achieve many more great milestones in the months and years ahead.
