Developing pathways to opportunity in all communities is part of the framework for economic success. Recognizing that, the Opportunity Zones program, established by Congress in 2017, is tasked with spurring economic development in areas of need.
The program, which unveiled a new website earlier this month, provides a federal tax incentive for those who reinvest unrealized capital gains into designated, low-income areas. The new website will serve as an information hub for the array of audiences that work with the Opportunity Zones initiative.
The Opportunity Zones website includes: an interactive map of the more than 8,700 Opportunity Zones nationwide; links to the Opportunity Zone-focused website of each state and territory; comprehensive federal tools and resources; and the completed action items of each White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council member agency.
With Opportunity Zones designated in each of South Carolina's 46 counties, counties, this program provides opportunity for economic competitiveness in all corners of the state. For more information on Opportunity Zones in S.C., click here.
