S.C. Commerce has a long and successful track record of helping international companies establish, relocate and expand business operations in South Carolina. The department has a presence in five countries including Germany, which serves as the European Office, China, Japan, India and Korea, all working to promote South Carolina’s business-friendly environment and recruit industry to the state.
Earlier this month, Korean Office Senior Representative Eun Mee Ko visited South Carolina and met with several Korean companies, key partners and alliances. Eun Mee works to help Korean-based companies establish and expand operations in the state.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Eun Mee studied in Korea, the U.S. and China. She is passionate about international relations and helping facilitate economic development.
“I have always dreamed about bridging Korea and the international community,” said Eun Mee at the S.C. Department of Commerce office in Columbia.
She represents and sells South Carolina at trade shows, to the Korean-based business community and serves as a liaison for companies with operations in S.C.
“Korean business moves at an incredibly fast pace, and being located in Seoul, I have the opportunity to be able to provide information quickly to companies and connect with them on a language and cultural level,” said Eun Mee. “I research and dig deeper and continue to exchange communication with existing leads, contacts and prospects.”
Her goal is to generate good leads for the International Strategy and Trade team and turn those into completed projects.
Eun Mee is a language powerhouse. She speaks Korean, English, Mandarin, Japanese and is polishing up her Cambodian and French. When she’s not working, she enjoys watching movies – particularly comic book films – and yoga.
