Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III kicked off a tour of the state’s economic development alliances at the Upstate SC Alliance’s Midyear Meeting on Wednesday, August 25. Leaders from across the 10-county Upstate region convened for updates on the alliance’s activities, economic performance and to network.
In his remarks, Secretary Lightsey spoke about the great transformation the world is experiencing, and that South Carolina needs to be ready to adapt to emerging technologies and disruptive change to remain competitive on the global stage.
In addition to Secretary Lightsey’s remarks, the event focused on Upstate economic development wins, particularly in the life sciences, technology and research and development sectors.
