$12 million investment expected to create 119 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Plastics LLC, a subsidiary of Carolina Technical Plastics Corporation, a maker of plastic automotive components, today announced plans to establish its new facility in Greenville County. The $12 million investment is expected to generate 119 new jobs.

We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Martin Kean, vice president of Carolina Technical Plastics Corporation and South Carolina Plastics LLC.
South Carolina Plastics LLC is a subsidiary of Carolina Technical Plastics which is a part of the Wirthwein AG Group with headquarters in Creglingen, Germany. The company will establish a new manufacturing operation at 800 Woodside Avenue in Greenville County subject to successful completion of due diligence activities and acquisition of the Fountain Inn site.
The company creates complex automotive components such as door modules, door handles, cable drum housings and covers for seat belts, among other components for the automotive industry as well as the Home Appliance, Medical and Rail industries. The new facility is expected to be operational by February 2013.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $4.4 billion in capital investment and more than 6,800 jobs in the automotive-related sector.
“Today’s announcement by South Carolina Plastics LLC builds on our reputation in the automotive club. The automotive industry continues to be a driver of economic growth in the Palmetto State’s economy and a key part of our overall manufacturing sector,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“South Carolina Plastics LLC’s decision to locate its new production facility here in Greenville County is welcome news,” noted H.G. “Butch” Kirven, a director of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and chairman of Greenville County Council. “Their decision to locate here affirms that this area’s burgeoning advanced manufacturing cluster continues to grow and thrive, and should serve as a magnet for more suppliers, more talented individuals and more good paying jobs for our community.”

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a Governor’s closing fund grant for $825,000 for building upfit, site preparation and infrastructure.
