Day-long workshop will address current lending practices and feature one-on-one lender networking
COLUMBIA, S.C. – In a true collaboration between municipal, state and federal government, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, along with several partner organizations, will be hosting a small business lender matchmaker event on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Columbia, S.C. Partners of the event include the City of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Providing small business owners with the opportunity to connect with potential lenders, the event will feature a lender-led panel discussion, a matchmaking session and exhibitor displays.
Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt emphasized the importance of these lender matchmaker events, saying, “South Carolina’s pro-business environment continues to receive high marks, and initiatives like the upcoming lender matchmaker event are a big reason why. Providing our businesses with the resources they need to succeed is critical to the health of our economy and a key component of our economic development efforts.”
City of Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin also stressed the importance of the lender matchmaker event, stating, “We recognize that major corporations like Apple, Amazon, Mattel and Walt Disney all started as small businesses. We believe that kind of talent exists right here in Columbia and we’re going to do everything we can to help those small businesses find the capital investment they need to reach their full potential.”
The event is taking place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, S.C.
