To make the advanced products that come off assembly lines in all corners of South Carolina, manufacturers need access to the latest, most advanced materials. That necessity has led to the development of a pretty strong advanced materials sector in our state. Since 2011, companies in this burgeoning sector have announced capital investments of more than $4.3 billion and the creation of approximately 9,300 new jobs.
In an effort to build on those totals, Team South Carolina is well-represented this week at the JEC World composites trade show in Paris. With a delegation that includes some of our regional economic alliances and other partners and allies, the three-day event provides our team a great platform to build relationships with industry leaders from across the globe and learn about the latest developments within the sector.
Moving forward, as we continue to expand on our role as a leading provider of plastics, optics, composites and more, we’ll be able to further strengthen our state’s manufacturing industry. And, as a result, a stronger, more durable economy will develop.
