Event featured the latest recycling market updates to a packed crowd
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Commerce hosted the 2019 S.C. Recycling Industry Forum on Thursday, May 23 at Segra Park in Columbia. More than 150 guests attended the event which featured recycling market updates, tools to find markets for hard-to-recycle materials and the opportunity to network with recycling experts, professionals and manufacturers working to increase recycling.
S.C. Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt spoke to the group about the critical role recycling plays in the state.
“With more than 500 recycling-related companies calling South Carolina home, this $13 billion sector has become an important pillar of the state’s economy,” said Hitt.
The forum included speakers from various facets of the recycling industry including Chantal Fryer, director of Recycling Market Development, S.C. Commerce; Anna DeLage, manager of Recycling Market Development, S.C. Commerce; Chris Fisher, president, Fisher Recycling and more.
In a changing marketplace, South Carolina’s businesses are adapting to the new recycling economy. Recycling is certainly alive and well in S.C.
