The S.C. Department of Commerce's Office of Innovation, in collaboration with Build Carolina, is offering more training through SC Codes, a statewide program designed to provide free access to coding education for all residents. SC Codes is launching in-person cohorts with several library partners in the Midlands and Charleston areas. With the addition of the new cohorts, SC Codes is now able to offer language-specific courses, to be completed within a three-to-six-week period with an in-house instructor. Seats are limited, and students must commit to attending all sessions upon registering for this free offering.
SC Codes has offered in-person meetups with professional software developers in locations across the state since September 2018. The platform allows for 24/7 access to free online curriculum for any interested resident.
“We know that for many people, it helps to have accountability and an in-person mentor who can help answer questions in real-time,” said Kim Christ, program director for SC Codes. “Our mentors represent some of the area’s strongest tech talent, and we are excited about the opportunities these courses will provide.”
The courses will be held at several locations with partnership from both the Richland County Public Library, Lexington County Public Library systems, and the Charleston County Library systems. The schedule for winter/spring 2020 is as follows:
