Nephron Nitrile is one step closer to production after a massive delivery at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. On Aug. 29, 2022, the company received its first shipment of equipment and manufacturing lines that will be used to produce its American-made, medical-grade nitrile gloves for the health care industry.
Governor Henry McMaster, Secretary Harry Lightsey and other state and local officials joined Nephron CEO and owner Lou Kennedy to celebrate the shipment’s arrival.
Last July, Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation announced its new glove operation in Lexington County to strengthen the United States supply chain and alleviate the nation’s dependence on foreign sources of personal protective equipment.
The new nitrile glove operation represents a more than $100 million investment by the company and 250 new jobs for the Midlands region. Production is expected to begin in a few weeks.
