Showcasing South Carolina's Life Sciences Community

The life sciences industry has built a solid foothold in South Carolina, where today it ranks as the Southeast’s fastest-growing life sciences ecosystem according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. To celebrate and promote this expanding industry cluster, a delegation of more than 40 Palmetto State life sciences representatives and state leaders participated in the BIO International Convention (BIO 2024) June 3-6, 2024, in San Diego, California.

One of the nation’s largest life sciences trade shows, BIO 2024 draws tens of thousands of attendees from around the globe representing sectors that include biotechnology startups and major pharmaceutical manufacturers, research and development organizations, higher education professionals, and beyond.

Companies across a variety of life sciences and biotechnology industries have flourished in South Carolina, including “Launch to Legacy” success story Nephron Pharmaceuticals. To nurture the continued development of local life sciences legacy companies and spur the launch of startups, industry association SCbio recently opened applications for its new SCbioDrive accelerator program for emerging life sciences companies, developed in partnership with MassBio. The deadline to submit applications for the inaugural cohort is Friday, June 28, 2024; learn more and apply today.
