State of South Carolina announces 2020 industry recruitment results

The South Carolina Department of Commerce today released its 2020 industry recruitment results. In total, the state won 126 economic development projects, accounting for $4 billion in capital investment and 11,147 new jobs.

"Team South Carolina continues to cultivate a diverse economy in all corners of our state," said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. "To increase our recruitment to $4 billion in capital investment - particularly during an unprecedented year - takes a remarkable amount of collaboration and unwavering commitment from many partners across this state."

Non-essential businesses in South Carolina to temporarily close

R&E Automated Systems expanding Spartanburg County operations

COLUMBIA, S.C. R&E Automated Systems, an internationally-recognized leader in the automation, engineering and prototype build industries, today announced plans to expand operations in Spartanburg County. The $12 million investment is expected to create 176 new jobs.

British Airways unveils plans for non-stop air service between South Carolina and the U.K.

COLUMBIA, S.C. British Airways, a full-service global airline, today announced plans for new, non-stop air service between London’s Heathrow Airport and the Charleston International Airport. The twice-weekly flight, slated to start in April 2019, marks the first direct trans-Atlantic flight from the state of South Carolina.

ACL Airshop announces new Greenville County operations

COLUMBIA, S.C. ACL Airshop, a global leader in custom unit load device (ULD) solutions, today announced plans to construct a new air cargo products factory in Greenville, S.C. Through a $7.2 million investment, the company is projected to create approximately 32 new jobs.

Lowcountry Aviation Company launching Colleton County operations

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lowcountry Aviation Company, a fully-integrated aviation service provider, is launching operations in Colleton County. The company’s $1.7 million investment is projected to create 36 new jobs.
