S.C. Department of Commerce again awarded grant to support export assistance programs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Department of Commerce has been awarded a State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for the seventh year. This program is designed to support and encourage small business export success. The state was awarded its full requested amount of $360,400.

South Carolina export sales top $32 billion in 2017, achieve eighth consecutive record year

COLUMBIA, S.C. – For the eighth consecutive year, the State of South Carolina set a record for total export sales in 2017. Today, Gov. Henry McMaster, the S.C. Department of Commerce and the S.C. Ports Authority announced that the state’s 2017 export sales totaled $32.2 billion, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The figure represents a 2.9 percent increase over the 2016 total.

Coast Brewing, LLC is expanding its operations in Charleston County

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Coast Brewing, LLC, a family-owned craft brewery based in Charleston, S.C., is expanding its existing operations. With a capital investment of $1.7 million, the company is expected to create 29 new jobs.

Currently, Coast Brewing produces 4,000 barrels per year for distribution primarily in the Charleston region. This expansion will increase production to more than 7,000 barrels per year, further growing the company’s sales market and allowing for the construction of a taproom and full kitchen.

S.C. Department of Commerce awarded grant to support export assistance programs

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The S.C. Department of Commerce has been awarded a State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for the sixth year. In total, the SBA is awarding $18 million to 44 states in this year's round of STEP grants, which are designed to support and encourage small business export success. South Carolina was awarded its full requested amount of $340,600.

Mediterranean Shipping Company expanding facility in Charleston County

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mediterranean Shipping Company, a leader in the container shipping industry, today announced plans to expand operations at its Charleston County facility. The company will invest more than $1.7 million and is expected to create 30 additional new jobs.

State of South Carolina posts strong year in industry recruitment and international trade

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Department of Commerce today released its 2016 industry recruitment and international trade results. In total, the state recruited more than $3.4 billion in capital investment, creating approximately 13,100 new jobs, while its exporters posted a seventh consecutive record year with export sales of $31.2 billion – a $400 million increase over last year.
