More than $1 million investment expected to create 47 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – DUER High Performance Composites, a maker of composite components, has established its new production facility in Beaufort County. The more than $1 million investment is expected to generate 47 new jobs.
“We look forward to getting our new operations up and running in Beaufort County. South Carolina has provided us with an excellent business environment and we are proud to join the strengthening manufacturing community. A growing focus on producing components that are lighter and stronger is creating a surge in the use of composite materials. We look forward to expanding our business here in the Lowcountry,” said Tauri Duer, owner of DUER High Performance Composites.
DUER High Performance Composites established its new operations in an existing building, located at 20 Eleanor Fine Road, in Beaufort. The company began operations in the new facility earlier this month.
“Today’s announcement is another sign that South Carolina is on the right track with its economic development efforts. We celebrate DUER High Performance Composites’ decision to invest more than $1 million and create 47 jobs in Beaufort,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $9 billion in capital investment and more than 26,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
“South Carolina continues to see its manufacturing renaissance grow with announcements like this one from DUER High Performance Composites. Every one of these new jobs will have an impact in Beaufort County and the Lowcountry,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“We are very excited to welcome DUER High Performance Composites to Beaufort County. Advanced, high-performance composites are being used today to construct state-of-the-art products in the marine, aviation and transportation sectors. Beaufort County is the ‘Right Place’ and this is the ‘Right Time’ for investment with others to come,” says Paul Sommerville, chairman of Beaufort County Council.
