$5.5 million investment expected to create new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Nation Ford Chemical, a custom manufacturer of specialty organic chemicals, today announced expansion plans for its current operations in York County. The $5.5 million investment is expected to generate 16 new jobs.
“We are pleased to further build on our success here in York County. The expansion will give us the opportunity to add to our product range and increase our market share. We appreciate the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Jay Dickson, president of Nation Ford Chemical.
Nation Ford Chemical is in the process of expanding its product line and will build a new chemical production area on its current campus, located at 2300 Banks Street in Fort Mill.
“It’s always exciting to see a company with a long history in South Carolina choose to increase its footprint here. Nation Ford Chemical has been a part of the state’s business community for more than 30 years, and we celebrate the company’s decision to invest $5.5 million and create more new jobs in Fort Mill,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
The company will produce a new antioxidant used in manufacturing lubricants. The expansion is expected to be completed by November.
“South Carolina’s chemical manufacturing industry continues to play an important role in the health of our state’s economy. Today’s announcement by Nation Ford Chemical also shows that our state’s business-friendly climate is fostering growth amongst our existing firms,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
In 2011, South Carolina recruited more than $4.7 billion in investment and more than 13,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a set aside grant for $100,000 for site preparation and infrastructure improvement. readySC will provide pre-employment training.
