Poly-America establishing South Carolina operations

Company investing $100 million to open Chester County facility

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Poly-America, one of the largest polyethylene film manufacturers in the U.S., is establishing South Carolina operations with Carolina Poly, Inc. in Chester County. The company is investing $100 million in the new facility, creating 300 new jobs in Chester, S.C.

Established in 1976 and headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas, Poly-America and its affiliated entities produce several product lines, including trash bags, plastic sheeting, silage bags andshrink film.

Carolina Poly, Inc. will operate a 475,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on 198 acres at 1580 Lancaster Highway in Chester, S.C.  It is anticipated that the facility will be operational by mid-2017, and hiring is expected to begin in late 2016.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $1.8 million Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to assist with the costs of real property improvements, as well as job development credits related to the project.
