More than $8 million investment expected to create 145 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – PTR Industries, a Connecticut-based rifle manufacturer, plans to relocate its manufacturing operations and corporate headquarters to Horry County. The more than $8 million investment is expected to generate 145 new jobs.

PTR Industries will be establishing its rifle production facility in the 58,000-square-foot Horry County spec building on S.C. Hwy 319 near Aynor. The county is in the process of upfitting the building for manufacturing operations.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $9 billion in capital investment and more than 23,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
“South Carolina is known for making things, and making them well. PTR Industries’ decision to locate its production operations here builds on our state’s manufacturing renaissance and creates well-paying jobs that will have an impact in Horry County and beyond,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
“PTR Industries decision to relocate their corporate headquarters to Horry County and invest more $8 million dollars in our district is a direct result of Horry County’s aggressive economic recruiting efforts,” said U.S. Congressman Tom Rice. “It is easy to see why a company like PTR Industries would want to relocate to Horry County.”
“PTR Industries is a perfect fit for Horry County,” stated Horry County Council Chairman Mark Lazarus. “By diversifying our economy with high quality manufacturing companies, it will help our citizens land better paying jobs and provide a stable future for their families.”
PTR Industries will employ gunsmiths, engineers, toolmakers and machinists who will work with state-of-the-art technology in the rifle manufacturing process. Hiring and training for new employees will be done through the SC Works Coastal Center in Conway and is expected to begin when the building upfit is completed.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits.
