Valmet Corporation to expand Lancaster County manufacturing facility

Expansion expected to create 40 new jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Valmet Corporation, a leading global service and technology supplier for the pulp, paper and energy industries based in Espoo, Finland is expanding its Lancaster County manufacturing facility. The investment is expected to create 40 new jobs in Lancaster, S.C.

Tracing its roots back to a small shipyard outside of Helsinki in the 1750s, today Valmet operates manufacturing and service locations across 30 countries on six continents with 11,000 employees. In South Carolina, Valmet operates a manufacturing facility at 992 Quality Drive in Lancaster as well as a service office in Aiken. The company offers services and technologies covering everything from maintenance outsourcing to mill and plant improvements and spare parts. Valmet's net global sales in 2013 were approximately EUR 2.6 billion ($3.37 billion) with its North American sales component comprising around 15 percent of its overall worldwide sales.

Valmet is committed to sustainable business practices as part of its corporate strategy. Earlier this month, Valmet was selected as one of only four companies from Finland to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which is recognized as a benchmark for investors interested in a company's sustainability performance as part of overall analyses.
