Time and time again, Team South Carolina has proven to be resilient in the face of adversity. Over the last few years, we’ve rebuilt and recovered from several significant events, such as the flooding of 2015 and Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Last month, Hurricane Irma impacted the Lowcountry with a dangerous storm surge, high winds and flooding. To help local small businesses get back on their feet, a variety of resources have been made available.
In response to a request for a disaster declaration from Governor Henry McMaster, the U.S. Small Business Administration (S.B.A.) has made low-interest disaster loans available to South Carolina business owners and residents affected by Hurricane Irma. Including Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton and Hampton Counties, the declaration allows small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and more to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.
The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is December 4, 2017. And, the deadline to return economic injury applications is July 5, 2018. For more information about these loans and other resources available, visit the S.B.A.’s Disaster Assistance page online.
