South Carolina formally strengthened its ties with Ireland Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, when Governor Henry McMaster signed a bill establishing the South Carolina-Ireland Trade Commission. Consulate General of Ireland in Atlanta Frank Groome, Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey and other state and legislative leaders were present to recognize the milestone. The commission will seek to advance bilateral trade and investment opportunities, building upon past successes between Ireland and the Palmetto State.
Since 2010, Irish businesses have announced more than $239 million in economic investment, today employing more than 5,900 citizens across 47 companies.
