Despite separation by the Appalachian Mountain Range and several Great Lakes, it’s only little more than a half-day’s drive to one of South Carolina’s top economic partners – Canada.
Representing more than $3.4 billion of South Carolina’s export sales total in 2016, the country to our north is one of the Palmetto State’s top trade partners year in and year out. Additionally, Canada-based companies have created more than 4,000 new jobs in South Carolina since 2011.
To build on this already mutually-beneficial economic partnership, the S.C. Department of Commerce is leading a trade and investment mission to Canada this May. With stops in Toronto and Montreal, the five-day trip will provide companies that are approved to attend the opportunity to have one-on-one meetings with prospective distributors, agents and partners which are tailored to their business goals.
The deadline to register is March 16, 2018, and space is limited. So, if your business is interested in participating, be sure to apply today. If your company is a small business with less than 500 employees, you may qualify for State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant funds, which can be used to cover the mission fee and up to $3,500 of qualified travel costs (limited to two representatives per company).
