In business, it's no secret that companies locate where they feel they can have success and be profitable. A huge factor in determining business success is a firm's ability to efficiently and effectively transport goods to market. That's why the S.C. Ports Authority and the continued growth of our port infrastructure are so important.
Last year, the port handled a record 2.3 million twenty-foot equivalent container units, which represents a 6.4 percent increase, year-over-year. And, if January's numbers are any indication, we're off to another strong start in 2019. Moving forward, as critical projects, such as Inland Port Dillon and the all-important Charleston Harbor deepening continue to come to fruition, we'll be able to ensure unmatched logistics assets for South Carolina industries. And, as a result, the Palmetto State will remain an ideal location for business and economic prosperity.
