Message from Secretary Hitt: Winning through logistics

"Leaders win through logistics." That sentiment by American business author Tom Peters reflects Team South Carolina's commitment to remaining a global business leader, in part, through our superior infrastructure and logistics network. Bobby Hitt

South Carolina has earned a reputation as a place that excels not only at making complex products, but also at shipping them all around the world.

With port infrastructure consistently achieving milestones - the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) recently having its best calendar year in its history - the Palmetto State offers unparalleled domestic and global connectivity for companies. Last year, the port handled 2.44 million twenty-foot equivalent container units (TEUs), a 5% increase year-over-year.

And, just last week in a construction milestone, the port celebrated the completion of the steel structure of the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal operations building. Phase One of the terminal is expected to be up and running in 2021. The new terminal is a crucial component to continuing the port's growth, and the asset will allow South Carolina to remain a hub for international trade.

From premium automobiles to paperboard materials, tires to plastics, and all goods in between, a critical factor in boasting a diversified economy and business success is through the ability to efficiently and effectively transport goods. And, with the strategic growth of South Carolina's port infrastructure, Team South Carolina will continue to remain a competitive player on the global business stage.
