The South Carolina Fraunhofer USA Alliance (SCFUSA), a collaborative effort between the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness (The Council), South Carolina Department of Commerce and Fraunhofer USA, Inc., announced its newest team member this week. Dr. Marcel Schäfer has joined SCFUSA as senior program coordinator and senior research scientist. SCFUSA works to advance applied research in engineering and technology across the state with Fraunhofer USA Centers and S.C. research institutions.
Dr. Schäfer will work directly with S.C. companies that are interested in accessing matching funds to conduct research, solve problems or improve efficiencies in business. SCFUSA projects span multiple industry clusters including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, technology and health.
The Council introduced Dr. Schäfer during its 2021 SC Logistics Tech Talk on Tuesday. The event, held at the Trident Tech Aeronautical Training Center in Charleston, featured presentations from industry leaders on the latest technology leading businesses into the future. Presenting companies included New Forge, Gnosis Freight, Daimler Trucks North America and ACL Airshop.
Additionally, SCFUSA is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, April 28 in which attendees can get to know Dr. Schäfer and learn about his work with the program and how companies can get involved. Registration is free. Click here to learn more and register.
