Nearly one year ago, three state agencies – the S.C. Department of Agriculture, S.C. Department of Commerce and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) – partnered to kick off the Don’t Waste Food S.C. campaign. A collaborative effort aimed at reducing the amount of food thrown away in South Carolina, Don’t Waste Food S.C. encourages the preventing, composting or donating of surplus food.
Next month, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this important campaign, a Don’t Waste Food S.C. 2017 Summit will be taking place in West Columbia, S.C. Featuring panel discussions, as well as a keynote address from Food Lion’s Pat Taft, the event is open to all stakeholders and potential Don’t Waste Food S.C. participants.
