COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Quality Model Group of companies (The QM Group) today announced an expansion of its existing Orangeburg County plastic injection molding operations. The firm’s $9.5 million investment is projected to create 37 new jobs.
Ortec growing its existing Anderson County operations
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Ortec, a leading biomaterial and polymer technology company, is growing its Anderson County operations. The company intends to invest $20 million and create approximately 18 new jobs. This is Ortec’s latest expansion, following its previous $20 million investment and creation of 60 jobs in December 2016.
Central Packaging and Crating, Inc. expanding Greenwood County operations
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Central Packaging and Crating, Inc., a manufacturer of wooden, heat-treated pallets, is expanding its operations in Greenwood County. The company’s $6 million investment is projected to create 37 new jobs.
Launched in 1998, Central Packaging and Crating is one of the largest wooden pallet manufacturers in South Carolina by volume. Located at 101 Joe Bernat Drive in Greenwood, S.C., the company will be upgrading an adjacent vacant facility, installing a new cut-up line for pine wood and expanding production of pine pallets.
Charles River Labs expanding Charleston County operations
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Charles River Labs, a leading, full-service drug discovery and early-stage development company, today announced an expansion of its existing Charleston County operations. The company’s $10.9 million investment is projected to create approximately 180 new jobs.
Ascend Performance Materials growing Greenwood County operations
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Ascend Performance Materials (Ascend), a global provider of high-quality fibers, chemicals and plastics, is expanding its Greenwood County operations once again. To accommodate the company’s continued growth, Ascend is investing $35.2 million, creating 30 new jobs.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bicycle Corporation of America (BCA) today announced plans to expand its existing production operations in Clarendon County. The company’s $5 million investment is projected to create 65 new jobs.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Agtruss, Inc., a leading manufacturer of agricultural trusses for the poultry and livestock industries, is expanding its Lee County operations. The company’s $2.8 million investment is projected to create 25 new jobs.
