Universal Forest Products to open new facility in Orangeburg County
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gov. Henry McMaster and the S.C. Department of Commerce today announced that Universal Forest Products, a provider of wood and wood-related products, plans to open a manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County. Operating as UFP Cameron, LLC, the $6.1 million facility is projected to create more than 120 new jobs over the next several years.
Ecomelida launching its first North American operations in Orangeburg County
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Ecomelida, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Zhangzhou Sanlida Environmental Technology Corporation, today announced plans to locate its first North American operations in Orangeburg County. The $52 million investment is projected to create 200 new jobs.
Zhangzhou Sanlida Environmental Technology Corporation is an importer and recycler of waste paper and plastic. Utilizing creative processes to separate pulp, plastic and aluminum from soft drink cartons and other products, the company’s recycled plastics are used in foam, cast plastic parts and more.
Eagle Solar Group launching solar project in Orangeburg County
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eagle Solar Group today announced plans to construct a new, state-of-the-art solar farm in Orangeburg County. The company is investing $87.9 million in the new operations.
Eagle Solar Group develops utility-scale solar farms in several U.S. regions, with a specific focus on the Midwest and the Southeast. Designed to generate the equivalent electricity required to power approximately 15,000 homes, this new 75-megawatt (MW) project outside Bowman, S.C. is expected to be complete by late 2020.
Southern Current launching new solar projects in Lee County

The company is investing in a total of five individual projects within Lee County, bringing a collective capital investment of $100 million.
Tradewind Energy establishing new solar project in Orangeburg County
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tradewind Energy – one of the largest independent wind and solar project development companies in the U.S. – is launching a new, $89 million solar production facility in Orangeburg County. Known as the Bowman Solar Project, this new facility will complement an existing $85 million solar facility in Orangeburg County, which the company announced in February 2017.
Projected to come online by early 2020, the 75-megawatt (MW) project will generate the equivalent electricity required to power 15,000 homes.
DMA Holdings locating new operations in Marion County
COLUMBIA, S.C. – DMA Holdings, Inc. (DMA), an established supplier to the North American automotive parts aftermarket, is locating new operations in Marion County. With a $4.7 million investment, the company is projected to create 34 new jobs.
Founded in 2008, DMA serves as the North American sales and distribution arm for overseas manufacturing facilities and is responsible for sales, marketing, logistics and product development. The company’s product line consists of shocks and struts, mount kits, brake wear sensors and other automotive replacement parts.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – MED-ALLY, a privately-held medical device manufacturer, is locating new operations in Berkeley County. The $2.38 million investment is expected to create 90 new jobs.
