$10 million investment to bring 20 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. - CHOMARAT North America, a manufacturer of reinforcement materials for the composite and building industries and subsidiary of the CHOMARAT Group, is expanding its current operations in Anderson County. The $10 million investment will bring 20 new jobs along with new equipment and additional manufacturing space.
"It is an exciting time for CHOMARAT, as we grow our legacy business and expand operations to support new markets." said Brian Laufenberg, president of CHOMARAT North America. "The advanced composites business is quite healthy in this country, and particularly strong in South Carolina, where there is a long history of textile and reinforcements manufacturing. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to operate and grow our business in Anderson County."
CHOMARAT's expansion at its Anderson facility will involve both physical and technical changes into advanced composite reinforcements. This investment will allow the company to diversify the business into new markets that include industrial, automotive, aerospace and others.
"CHOMARAT believes that South Carolina is the place to advance their company and grow into new ventures, and we couldn't be happier or agree more," said Gov. Nikki Haley. "We congratulate CHOMARAT on their $10 million investment and the creation of 20 new jobs in Anderson County."
Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $10.8 billion in capital investment and 29,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
"To see an existing company in South Carolina expand to support two of the state's key industry sectors - automotive and aerospace - is pretty neat," said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. "We applaud CHOMARAT's decision to continue to invest here, which is a testament to the fact that South Carolina is just right for any type of business."
"We are excited that CHOMARAT has chosen to expand here for the third time," said M. Cindy Wilson, council person for South Carolina District 7. "The citizens of Anderson County have a wonderful place to live, work and do business."
