Reopening Guidance

Opening Restaurants Updated Guidance and Regulations

As part of the ongoing process of facilitating economic recovery and revitalization in a safe,
strategic, and incremental manner, the State of South Carolina should continue to encourage effective “social distancing” practices and implement additional targeted mandates and narrowly tailored emergency measures to combat and control the spread of COVID-19.

Guidelines for Outdoor and Indoor Visitation

These visitation guidelines apply to nursing homes and community residential care facilities for indoor and outdoor visitation. 

Palmetto Priority

Palmetto Priority is a formal commitment made by South Carolina restauranteurs to provide a clean and safe environment for their staff and customers to demonstrate real precautions that they are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Guidelines for Re-Opening Festivals and Special Events

The recommendations set forth in the following pages are specific to the reopening of community festivals and special events in South Carolina and are intended for use by event planners, local officials, participating vendors, entertainers and other personnel working with the planning and execution of these events. Attendees of community festivals and other special events should follow the personal health and safety guidelines issued by the CDC and SCDHEC as well as local health authorities and specific guidelines provided by the event they attend. These recommendations are not intended for private gatherings like weddings, conventions, conferences, reunions, or athletic tournaments. 

Playground Guidelines

As with all other matters concerning COVID-19, the responsibility of slowing or stopping the advance of this disease is a responsibility shared by all, including facility owners and staff, and playground equipment users. See below for guidelines regarding playgrounds. 

Mass Gatherings and Large Community Events

The following guidelines are intended to minimize the risk of exposure and transmission of COVID-19 at mass gatherings and large community events. 

Overnight Camps

Along with following CDC guidelines, overnight camps can follow these additional tips to minimize the transmission and exposure of COVID-19.

Movie Theater Guidelines

The purpose of these guidelines is to allow the public to enjoy movie theaters while providing standards that encourage public health and safety. 

Performing Arts Facilities

All venues must determine how best to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in the venue and following these guidelines. 

Motorsports Facility Guidelines

The purpose of these guidelines is to allow the public to again enjoy motorsports events while providing standards that encourage public health and safety.
